do you believe in love at first sight?

honestly, no, that’s too superficial.
i really don’t think love at first sight actually happens, if you say lust at first sight then yes perhaps. falling in love with a person’s looks isn’t considered love, and at first sight that’s the only thing you’ll know about a person, what they look like.

…remind me that we’ll always have each other, when everything else is gone

absolutely in love with this song…

the lyrics, the illustrations, it’s all so relevant. and this song is digging its way into my head… (i am also totally digging brandon boyd’s charm.)

23rd july, the countdown to Incubus in KL begins.

what’s your favourite fragrance?

mmmm, i don’t really have a favourite right now.
i just exhausted my bottle of chanel chance, so i’m alternating between vera wang’s princess & salvatore ferragamo’s shine incanto.

the next one i’m getting would be jean paul gaultier’s classique, the scent is fast growing on me and the sample my friend gave me will probably only last one more day out.

hello! i saw your food posts and everything looks yummy! where did you learn to cook?

i didn’t major in culinary. we had 6 months of culinary training back in school when i was doing my dip in hospitality management but that’s about it. don’t think home econs really counts? lol. well i just browse lots of recipes & learn a bit from my mum but we have totally different cooking styles, i’m more western and i bake a whole lot more than she does. :)

my new love.

i’ve been wanting to get a new watch and this happened to catch my eye when i was checking out selfridges two days ago… BUT!

(yes there’s always a but) when josh got to shop (in london fyi) he told me it was shiny gold and not matte gold, and that there was a matte steel one. (come to think of it, i don’t know how the hell he even figured i might not like the shiny gold… weird.) anyhoos! i was actually already on the marc jacobs site checking out the other models and  the pelly chrono caught my eye…

before i could ask him to check if they had it, he sent me a photo of it. haaaa! and then came the decision. i would have loved the matte gold but urghhhh. i suddenly remembered most of my watches were gold based so, the pelly chrono is mine! someone’s a happy bunny! hahaha (me, duh.)

i should really stop buying watches with three dials, but idk i’m just such a sucker for triple dial watches. (don’t ask) i’m trying to steer away from watches with a whole round of crystals around the face. i think i have three watches that look like that and it all started with the GUESS watch my daddy got me for my birthday yearssss back. no more bling for me! three is quite enough and i don’t care if they’re diamonds.

i’m so in love with this one from max bill…

this is a watch i’d describe as hawttttt, seriously. i don’t know there’s just something about it that gets to me. it’s puuuurfect! (even tho this is highly likely bigger than my wrist) and yesss i like big watches.. i can’t stand having tiny faced watches around my wrist, it just feels really weird. (i’m weird?) i also have a thing for guy’s watches more than girl’s watches.

don’t judge.

what do you look for in a guy?

hmmmmm tough question!
i don’t really look for particular qualities in guys, at least not consciously.
of course, the typical pre-requisites apply, but for me, if we click we click!

i must say tho i do appreciate a good level of wittiness in a guy. i get bored easily so he has to be able to hold my attention. i’ve never dated geeky, nerdy guys.. don’t think i ever will cos they can’t keep up with my lifestyle, and i’ve been told i can be "too much to handle". (whatever that means.)

i guess we’d have to be on par on an intellectual level as well, communication is very important so being on the same bandwidth would probably help a lot in understanding each other. there’s nothing worse than miscommunications & having your intentions misunderstood.

a cosy tea party with viccal @ a curious teepee

some time back i was invited to Viccal’s first blogger’s party but sadly, i couldn’t make it! :( not long after tho, i got an email, inviting me to a “make-up session” for those who missed the first and boy am i glad they planned a second party for us! :)

it was held at A Curious Teepee @ Scape, a very cosy place with a f&b + retail concept. something i’d love to do if i ever get the chance to.. i brought mimi with me to the event, she just knocked off from work, and we had to go straight to the event, so we didn’t have time to eat! to our surprise, food was waiting for us when we arrived! YAY!

quiche, sandwiches, tarts & iced tea

while we sank our teeth into the food to stop our tummies from rumbling…

Francis from glominerals doing a makeup demo on a fellow blogger.

he gave us an insight to mineral makeups, it’s benefits, as well as how you can easily turn a day look into a night look. easy tip? play up the eyes!

i won a mineral lip gloss/plumper from glominerals! *happy dance :)

with Vicky, founder of Viccal. (sorry blurry…)

Vicky sat down with us in groups and talked to us about our skin woes before “prescribing” the cure! it was like a one-on-one skin consultation, which made it a very memorable & personalized experience, and i think it’s really awesome that they take the time and effort to understand what their customers need.

*two thumbs up! :)

our mini serum samples!

mimi got 1 & 3, while i got number 2. the 3 serums are created to treat various skin issues. no 1 nurtures & strengthens, no. 2 detoxifies & heals, and no 3. revitalizes & energizes the skin.

it’s actually quite a generous sample, i’m quite sure it will last me more than 2 weeks. i’ve already been using it for about a week and i still have enough to last me another two weeks, which should be sufficient to produce noticeable results, i’m sure. the team behind Viccal is confident that their products will work, as such, they have made sampling very available. you can get samples from their websites to try out before you decide to buy. especially since the serums are priced at over a hundred $ a bottle, being assured of results prior to purchasing is indeed a plus point.

HOW? click on the link above, scroll down & click on “COLLECTIONS”, select your choice of serum & click on “Receive your sample now”.

soon you’ll be saying yay to healthy, happy skin! xoxo

temptation is a bitch.

saw this pop up on my fb feed two days ago, just thought i should share this cos such situations are really all around. sad, but true.

to be fair, guys aren’t always the guilty party, they can end up being the victim too, especially those in NS. cos army life is so restricted, and guys are forced to spend so much time away from their family and loved ones, girls get “bored” cos guys don’t have enough time for them and fall for someone else who is, at that point, more “available” (sound familiar?)

when will this vicious cycle stop? when will we stop wanting better than what we already have? when will we stop doing things we might live to regret?

Is sexual urge the same as hunger?

hahaha no way. sexual urges can be curbed but not hunger. if you try to curb hunger you’ll just end up starving to death. sexual urges can be psychologically controlled.

Ask me anything

Hi, saw ur moleskine doodles on FB. They are pretty and your handwriting is lovely. Which brand of pen u use?

I use pilot pens, the g2 & the g-tecmatic. whichever one i’m carrying with me but i use the g-tec a lot more these days :)

Ask me anything

are you attached?

haha nope. been out of a relationship for a year, it was my longest (2 years) so i definitely needed time out. i’m not really the sort who needs to be in a relationship, but it’ll be nice to meet someone who’ll be worth the love! :)

making the most of leftovers.

…who said leftovers have to be boring?

somehow no one really likes the idea of eating leftovers, right? wrong. (for me at least) these days i make it a point to save leftovers, especially if it’s meat… duck, chicken… you can pop them in the fridge overnight and throw them into a salad the next day. the best part is, they can be eaten cold too.

duck salad with potatoes tossed in butter, mayo, sea salt & cayenne pepper, tomatoes, eggs & kiwi. drizzled with plum sauce.

saturday ♥

i fell asleep after managing to blog a post last night. i just closed my eyes for abit and the next thing i knew it was 6 in the morning… unread text messages, fb chats, i barely managed to sleep my lappie before i crashed again.

and then i woke to a chain of whatsapp messages and then, a phone call. clara was nearby and wanted to swim sooooo, i dragged myself out of bed, had lunch and we spent the whole afternoon by the pool and in it a quarter of the time.

time to get a little summer color on my skin…

oh well, as usual, i get hungry after swimming so we decided to whip up some yummies… and i ended up teaching clara how to make scrambled eggs. it’s really easy! if you’re not convinced, watch this! :)

ps : the only thing she could cook before this was maggie mee. that’s one item to add to the “what i can cook” list babe!

seeeee! the eggs turned out fab! anyone can make scrambled eggs! and clara said it tastes better than mcdonalds! yummmmmmmm :)

was contemplating heading out to soul cos so many of my friends will be there, but i’m feeling so bummed from all that chlorine and sun. i think i’m gonna chill out at home and turn in early tonight… i’m checking out h&m’s online store & it’s making me really anxious. i can’t wait for the store to open here in singapore, like FINALLY! how have we been surviving without h&m? i actually have a couple of items in my shopping cart (don’t ask me why, it’s not like they ship internationally… they don’t, right?) who wants to be nice and get me some h&m? *chuckles

i also can’t wait to get my hands on these two items i ordered from the closet lover! i’ve had my eyes on that marc jacobs-inspired dress for the longest time! those of you who have been reading my blog would know that i used to model for them, and i must say, the stuff they’re bringing in just gets better & better! well done girls! :)

okay, mummy’s calling for durian time! after which i’m gonna go dig through my wardrobe & look for outfit inspirations for next week.. that is if, i can stop shopping online for shoes at xquisis. i’ve been wearing my miu miu inspired crystal heels a lot and everyone loves them! (see sidebar for blog promo!)

happy sunday in advance! muaaaaaaaa ♥

bye bye bangs?

i think i look like two completely different persons with & without bangs.. you reckon? i really hate the “in-between length” tho… you know, when your bangs get too long and start poking into your eyes, yet it’s too short to side sweep. urghhhh the agony.

i got bored of just pinning back my bangs so i tried to pin it sideways the other day.. and then this is me with bangs… i think it looks more edgy, but it also makes me look 19 (so say most of my friends…)

like my kickass leggings? i got them from topshop! i think that’s the absolute craziest piece i’ve ever worn, not to mentioned paired with a furry throw over. my “combat boots” i previously got from earl grey party never fail me. everyone’s always asking me where i got them! but i think i’m gonna need to own a pair of doc marts soon-ish.

and so the debate continues, bangs or no bangs?

…….goodnight

doodly doodling doodles

my current blackberry wallpaper! ♥

can’t remember when i drew this but yea, i just realised it makes a pretty wallpaper. my moleskine is full of random doodles, i doodle when i’m bored, i write chunks of “philosophical” nonsense when i’m feeling emo… but anyhoos, feel free to download and use it on your phone. pretty things are meant to be shared, right? :)

time is flying by so quickly these days… maybe cos i’ve been busy with media events this week.. partied when i said i wouldn’t party.. which explains why i’m home on a friday night. (okay technically already saturday morning) and i’m being miss goody two shoes! …like i said earlier in the week,

when clubbing threatens to render you unproductive, a choice has to be made.

for me right now, the parties have to take the back seat. have a fantastic weekend ya’ll! ♥

dinner at TWG

after attending the Forever 21 media launch at orchard xchange yesterday evening, ed decided he was going to have wanton mee with his cousin, while mimi & i plonked ourselves down at TWG Salon & Boutique at Ion for a quick dinner before heading to new asia bar for fashion tv’s vip party.

( photo from http://www.frvtravel.com )

this is fast becoming a favourite haunt… i love the overall ambience, it’s so classy & cosy.. the service staff there are really nice! most of the managers are french, gives me an excuse to brush up on my french..  it’s been a long while since my 3 months of french lessons have come in handy.. or was it 6 months? :/

i forgot to take a photo of the menu so i can’t really remember the exact food descriptions.. this was our first time having food at TWG. i just had to try it!

foie gras terrine with sakura sakura tea jelly & salad $29

this was yummy! mimi ordered this, i only took a small bite, but i probably would order this when i go there in future, i want a whole serving for myself! :P it’s a very clever combi i reckon, the jelly really refreshes your taste buds in between  mouthfuls of full-flavored foie gras.

scottish smoked salmon & caviar served with toast $28

it was drizzled with a particular tea, i can’t remember what it’s called tho, i need to see the menu again! sigh! why did i forget… boo me. :(

i was actually worried we’d still be hungry… but the toast was really filling! i didn’t even finish all of it, but i finished the salmon of course. it was yummayee :)

mimi had this glass of champagne i don’t know what, it had tea in it too if i’m not wrong… i so want to try it the next time we go there.. i stared at the tea menu and was totally clueless on what to have so i had the waiter pick one for me and he picked an apple tea cos he has a sweet tooth! :)

coincidentally, he served us on monday and he served us again last night! his name is shawn/shaun/sean. i don’t know which spelling but anyhoos! i like familiar faces, it’s like being around friends, you enjoy yourself a lot more.

i think the staff there are a notch above other f&b establishments… or maybe it’s just me i don’t know… but they make us feel very welcome & at home! it was only our second visit to twg at ion but they recognized us already! (we were there pretty late on monday night for tea and a slice of berry something something) makes me wanna go back again & again & again!

they saw us taking tons of photos and offered to take a shot for us! :)

we were seated at the same table! it’s like the best table if you ask me, it’s right next to the pastry “trolley”! hopefully one day we can try everything in that glassy display… everything looks so good! (and sinful!)

did i mention i bought $64 worth of tea when we were there on monday?(*gasps) i know it’s crazy but i love their teas. i got my favourite french earl grey & a tin of their signature black tea..

last night’s bill came up to $98.85 for two of us.. doesn’t hurt to indulge once in a while, but i think for us, once in a while is starting to become a little too often.. :P

the most retarded encounter.

so i was walking towards the front of the train platform at yishun yesterday and this really weird guy suddenly appears in front of my face while i was texting. i wish this whole thing was made up but no, it really did happen, and it got everyone at the platform including a whole lot of ns guys who were heading home from camp staring at me like a freak show.

….i regret not getting his name at least so blackberry can sue him. guys, puhleaseeeeeeeeeeeee. spare me the lameness.

with head chef, Kentaro Torii

Capable of transforming even a simple luncheon into an extravagant affair, Executive Chef Kentaro Torii promises the most exciting dining experience at OChre.

Born in Kanagawa, Tokyo, Kentaro started training as a chef from the tender age of 18. He travelled through Europe for inspiration and took a particular interest in Italy – for its rich culture and diverse cuisines. Kentaro perfected his cuisine whilst based in the Lombardy region (Italy), including his signature risotto.

overall, it was amazing. it’s been awhile since i last had foie gras & it was very nicely done. we all left with happy tummies.. if i remember correctly it was $68++ per person, subject to additional charges for the choice of food, it was a +$10 for the foie gras as well as the beef steak. a tad pricey in general but for the quality of the food in addition to awesome company, it was well worth it. :)

and i fell in love with something that night…

amaretto ginger… i foresee this being a favourite for a long time to come :)
