WHERE TO EAT? : BURGER BENCH & BAR

ben and i went to Cine on thursday evening for dinner… we’re making it a point starting this year to check out new food places so we can tell you (reading) about our food finds! and this time, it’s BURGER BENCH & BAR.

let me start off by saying i love the open “tuckshop” concept… great for people watching too :)

there you go, i sneaked a shot of the menu. the prices are really affordable, considering it’s located in town, plus the beef patties are AWESOME.

ben had the sarawak black pepper beef burger and i had the mushroom cheese burger.. definitely beats BK’s mushroom swiss hands down!

TOTALLY YUMMY.

i’ll be glad to have a burger like that any day! plus, forget the boring old burgers and fries, here, it’s burgers and chips. and the chips are supposedly handmade! definitely adds a twist to the meal. ben said he’d order 2 servings of the chips and sneak them in for a movie.

what else can i say, good food leaves me speechless, and i can’t wait to go back for seconds!

…i’m such a person.

if i see something i really really want, but can’t get it at that point, i will find a way to get it by hook or by crook.

so, we were at Butter last week and i saw this group of people with awesome animal hats, and then i spotted a panda one! i didn’t know that bunch so it’d be weird if i asked them, plus they were kinda… drunk, i think. so i told ben, but he was too busy to bother about my “i want that panda hat!”

so the next day i started looking for it online…. and guess what? my efforts paid off and i found the exact same one online! already ordered and paid for. i’m having it shipped to Audrey in CA tho cos shipping directly to singapore is gonna kill me.

$$$$$$$

ben wants to kill me for shopping so much too, but he did say “i’ll find it and buy for you, k?”

so…. hahaha he can’t kill me this time! …why would he anyway? the panda is soooo adorable! :P

on a seperate note, is anyone interested in purchasing BENEFIT COSMETICS? i’m ordering in from the USA cos it’s way cheaper than getting it in stores here. for example, CORALISTA, which is a cheek color retails for S$58 here and guess how much it is online?

USD$28 = S$39 (as of now)

see, singapore stores are ripping us off! it’s $19 more to get it instores here than online! it’s insane! for those who never knew about the price difference, well, now you do!

i took this really adorable photo of Baileys yesterday and just had to share it with everyone (who hasn’t already seen it on facebook)

i’ve got tons of scrap fabrics lying around so since it’s considered rabbit-safe, i thought i’d give him a piece to keep amused. at first we played tug of war, then i put it on his head covering his eyes and he didn’t quite bother… then he went around with it hung across his neck like a shawl…

i’m thinking of adding more colors to his fabric scraps, maybe he’ll make a nice bed to sleep in some day… :)

he loveeessss his new daily food by the way. he’s been a really picky eater and doesn’t want to eat his pellets! so i went to Pet Lovers and asked if there was anything else he could eat and they recommended Vitakraft’s Life Dream. it’s a dream alright, Baileys loves it! its a mix of fruits as well as alfalfa meal and other stuff and it’s colorful, just the way he likes it…

the staff at Pet Lovers at Northpoint are pretty awesome… haha! i’ve only gone there like twice and they seem to know me already.. the other day when i was at the cashier the guy said, “woahhhhh so rocker ah today?” i couldn’t help but laugh. and i showed them Baileys’ photo, they think he’s a cutie :)

who can deny that? anyways, that’s all about Baileys for now… looks like he’s gonna have to be neutered sooner or later. i just realised yesterday that his testicles have “descended”.

this saturday, we’re messing up The Butter Factory…

The Butter Factory proudly and loudly introduces a brand new night, HOT MESS- a freestyle romp of indie-disco, electrosleaze and leftfield-pop with our local and international friends and half-siblings take control to bring you a huge serving of raunchy sweaty sloppy speaker juice in the thrashy chic FASH.

Our maiden night features Zushan. Formerly known as Neboet, Zushan came from a Hip-Hop background, learning the ways of turntablism and taking part and winning local battles. His open mind in music led him to discover the sounds of House music. His portfolio includes performing at the biggest clubs in Singapore. He was also featured in various festivals and events such as the Singapore Street Festival, Killa Balla Football Event and National Day Pre-show. And he was also the resident DJ for the first season of the variety show “Oktolive” on the Okto Channel. That’s not all. In the past 3 years, he has travelled and played in some of the biggest clubs in countries such as Vietnam, Australia, Malaysia and China, performing with big name DJs such as Tom Piper, Rob Kay, DJ Moto & DJ Stanley to name a few.

Bored on Valentine’s…

i wonder what everyone else is up to…

my parents are taking naps, i’m trying to finish my interview for SAUCEINK, and waiting for my sisters to get here for dinner… i just shared my banana with Baileys… and i’m falling asleep.

i’m bored! i have things to do but i don’t feel like doing anything cos it’s the new year, and it’s Valentine’s. i haven’t seen a single rose around till now. pretty cool actually, looks like chinese new year has “over-written” Valentine’s.

Buttered Week!

someone please tell me it isn’t friday already… BUT IT IS, ISN’T IT?

i can’t believe the whole week flew by just like that… people have come and gone, too.

wednesday as we all know it, BUTTER COOKIES at The Butter Factory. it’s been awhile since i’ve gone to butter come to think of it… and wednesday was pretty awesome :) but first, we had dinner at Overeasy! can’t have a meal there without an order of our favourite sliders. pity we got there late, the STI had closed lower that day and the sliders were going for $1 each before 7pm! grrrrrrrr

i had my jumbo prawns, but i realise i’m sorta losing the love for that dish…

and then my good old friend Jones came down for an after-work drink with me! he was the first one that night to “complain” about how much weight i’ve lost… >_<

on thursday night, we went to Butter, AGAIN!

it was “THE PULL”, some singles night. we didn’t stay long tho… left after ONE drink, cos ben had to go back to camp…. NS WOES!

The Paper Bunny

i folded an origami bunny and put it in Baileys’ cage… at first he was quite amused, but after it got flattened, he’s been tearing at it like it’s just another piece of yesterday’s news….

i put it on his litter box, he got up, went to the litter box, pushed the paper bunny off the litter box and went back to lie down. how cute can he get? :)

anyways, i just finished a 700-word Valentine’s Day “write-up” for Channel News Asia… gosh i’m glad i managed to finish it… i just wanna chill the whole of wednesday! okay maybe not, i still have another interview to finish up… and i haven’t gotten started yet!

and recently i’ve been entertaining thoughts of going back to F & B… should i or shouldn’t i? it’s fun (to a certain extent), but it’ll be long hours of slogging… i need to sleep (many many nights) on this. oh well, ben’s back in camp… sigh. why do weekends fly by so quick? can’t wait for wednesday tho! edo is coming down from Sydney… i hope he brings jess with him. i miss jess!
