i picked up crochet when i was in secondary school… mummy taught me the basics and i’ve been experimenting on my own ever since… my creations were even featured in an issue of 17 Magazine 7 years ago! yes, it’s been that long…
above shown are three new designs i came up with over the weekend…
they lend a very vintage, romantic feel to an outfit… each unique in it’s own way, whether you pick the simple or more elaborate styles, they will complement your style all week.

i stumbled upon this recipe while surfing random blogs… it looks so yummmmy, it’ll be a pity not to share!
if anyone tries this recipe please let me know if it’s good!
Apple Tartelettes Recipe:
Makes four 4- inch tartlets
Pate Sucree:
2 tablespoons (20gr) slivered almonds
1/2 (60gr) cup powdered sugar, unsifted, divided
1/2 stick (56.5gr) unsalted butter, at room temperature
pinch of salt
3/4 cup (90gr) all-purpose flour
1 egg yolk
Preheat oven to 350F.
Place almonds and 1 tablespoon powdered sugar in a food processor. Pulse until the nuts are finely ground. In bowl of electric mixer fitted with paddle attachment, cream butter, ground nuts and salt on medium speed until well-combined. Slowly add remaining powdered sugar and flour and mix well. Add the egg yolk and mix until incorporated. Shape dough into a ball and flatten into a disc. Wrap with plastic wrap and refrigerate for two hours or overnight.
Place the dough in between two sheets of plastic wrap or parchment paper and roll it out to about 1/8-inch thick. Cut out four 6- inch rounds and fit them inside four 4- inch tartlet molds, patting the dough in with your fingertips if it breaks on you as you transfer the rounds. Gather the scraps and set aside.
Prick the dough with a fork and refrigerate 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 350F and bake the shells for 12 to 15 minutes. Let cool on wire racks.
Apple Compote:
1/2 vanilla bean
1 teaspoon (2gr) ground cardamom
2 tablespoons sugar
4 medium apples (your preference. I went with Fuji)
1/4 cup to 1/3 cup (60 to 80ml) water
On a flat surface, cut the vanilla bean in half lenghtwise without cutting all the way through and scrape the seeds from the pods with a pairing knife. Place them in a large saucepan along with the cardamom and sugar. Set aside.
Peel, core and roughly chop the apples. Add them to the vanilla and sugar mixture along with the water. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat. Turn the heat down, cover and let the apples stew for 30 to 45 minutes. Check every 20 minutes to and add water to the mixture if the liquid evaporates faster than the apples can cook. I tend to cook mine just unti soft so that they keep a bit of texture under the tooth. Remove from the heat and let cool to room temperature. Divide the mixture evenly among the tart shells.
Apple Topping:
2 tablespoons (15gr) granulated sugar
zest of half a lemon
2-3 medium apples
In a small bowl, rub together the sugar and lemon zest so that the citrus natural oils can flavor the sugar.
Peel, core and thinly slice the apples (the thinner the prettier. Decoratively arrange the slices over the compote and sprinkle evenly with the sugar.
Bake at 350F for 20 to 25 minutes or until the top appples are golden brown.

i’ve been randomly surfin the web lately… and finds like these are my favourite! i’m a sucker for vintage anything… altho how my room is done up now doesn’t reflect my love for vintage at all… but then again, i don’t really have the liberty of turning the whole house vintage, and having just one vintage room would be totally odd…
so i’ll have to deal with just admiring photos for now!
notice the disco ball in the centre of the room… it’s so disco and yet the rest of the room is so chic and sophisticated!
i could deal with a sleeping in such a bedroom… in fact, it’s very me… who said chandeliers are only for the halls or living room spaces? they add that element of romance to a bedroom i reckon. throw in the dimming function!
here’s another bedroom i like. very very much… it must be the pillows… i love pillows! i have like (hang on let me count) 4 pillows plus a really long one, totally 5 on my tiny super single bed!
i also love how the white in the room doesn’t come off as boring… the earthy, neutral tones are also very comforting… if only i have a room this big.
….how can you not love vintage?
simply put, the best advice i’ve come across in awhile…

today i took a peak into the future…
i looked near, and i looked far.
and one constant factor was present throughout; that constant is you.
in 3 days, we would have been together for 9 whole months.
i dare say i’ve never been so sure about any relationship for so long, not until i met you.
you make life a joy for me, you make me feel safe.
you take away my fears and replace them with future hopes.
at times i can’t help but ask myself, “is this a dream?”
more than once i still find it hard to believe that someone could love me as much as you do;
then i look over to see Po looking back at me.
…and i know it’s not a dream.

yesterday ben had part 2 of his photoshoot with Neng!

and then we took a cab to gardens to drop off ben’s stuff at home before going back out for dinner!

then we walked back to ben’s…. and bummed around for abit. then called a cab and brought the decks and mixer down to singtel com centre for the event that was held there today….
…home sweet home. finally!

yesterday after mass we went for dinner at Jade Room at Hotel Royal!
it’s been a loooong time since we last dined there. i missed the chicken wings! didn’t take many photos, was too busy with the food!
and then halfway through dinner mummy said… if people don’t know, they would think we’re a whole family… as in like ben is my brother cos he’s as tall, (actually taller) than my dad… hahhahaha!
(cos you look older than me what right? lol)
but we don’t look alike?
okayyyy me again! that’s my favouritest hoodie by the way… we call it “MAUMAU!”
